Конституционный Суд Российской Федерации - Высший судебный орган конституционного контроля, осуществляющий судебную власть самостоятельно и независимо посредством конституционного судопроизводства. 

 

Полномочия, порядок образования и деятельности Конституционного суда Российской Федерации определяются Конституцией Российской Федерации и федеральным конституционным законом от 21.07.1994 № 1-ФКЗ «О Конституционном Суде Российской Федерации».

 

КС РФ состоит из 11 судей, которые назначаются на должность СФ по представлению Президента РФ. Срок полномочий судьи не ограничен.
